As a Business Continuity Consultant within our Group Incident Management team, you will be a key to driving forward key components of the Society’s Business Continuity and Operational Resilience Strategy to help safeguard the Important Business Services which our members rely upon and key activities and products the Society relies upon to operate.At Nationwide we openly put our 15 million members at the centre of decisions we make as a business with every role, no matter what it’s doing, being member focused. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.What you'll be doingMain activities will include:Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support individual Nationwide business areas (primarily liaising with Business Continuity Plan Owners and Business Continuity Representatives) to deliver against the requirements of the Society’s Business Continuity Control Policy and supporting Standards. This will include guiding key internal stakeholders to complete and update Business Impact Analyses (BIA), Business Continuity Planning and bronze level exercising in accordance with Policy and Standards.Educate and influence key internal stakeholders including Exco-1, Senior Managers and business managers to make them aware of their own roles and responsibilities and understanding of Business Continuity Control Policy and Standards and Operational Resilience.Reporting of the effectiveness of controls across the Society in support of regulatory requirements (including BA23 and SMF24).Hold and foster an in-depth understanding of the ‘Business Continuity and Exercising team’s’ responsibilities and understand and promote how they enable the management of relevant risks and controls within Nationwide’s risk appetite for Operational Resilience specifically.Working with key stakeholders, drive improvement of data held within the Society’s Business Continuity Management tooling, considering lessons learned from incidents and exercises and quality assurance/3 Line of Defence reviews.Supporting reporting through Nationwide Governance fora when required to do so, for example preparation of committee papers or response to committee questions on Business Continuity.Having a key role in Business Continuity related projects/programmes, driving forward the Operational Resilience agenda, for example Important Business Service Recovery and Substitutability.Line Management of Senior/Analysts within the team as required.Supporting industry engagement, including the Business Continuity Institute (BCI), Business and Operational Continuity Committee (BOCC) and Retail Banking Resilience and Continuity Group (RBRCG).Leading resilience and continuity analysis and quality assurance reviews to provide insight on potential vulnerabilities and control gaps.Communicating and participating with various meetings within Security & Resilience and the wider Society as required to represent Business Continuity and Resilience.Act as part of the on-call rota for our Silver Incident Management process, responding to disruptive events during and out of hours on a rotational basis.About youThe successful candidate will:Have a solid understanding of Business Continuity, exercising and Operational Resilience with practical experience of delivery of its core components.Key practical experience in successful engagement of key stakeholders to deliver the core components of a Business Continuity Management System, including Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and bronze level exercising programmes.Attention to detail, ensuring data and reports are insightful and can be relied on for decision making.Strong communication and influencing skills.Working knowledge of industry standards, including ISO 22031 and the Business Continuity Institute’s Good Practice Guidelines.Hold a recognised Business Continuity or Resilience related professional accreditation, such as MBCI.Proven experience in delivery of effective contingency and continuity planning with stakeholders to add value to an organisation.A proactive and positive approach, with the ability to self-motivate and see tasks through to completion.Our Customer First behaviours are all about putting customers and members at the heart of how we work together.
