Core Hours: 08:00-16:35 (Mon–Thu) 08:00-15:10 (Fri).
Vacancy Type: Full-time, Permanent and Hybrid (primarily on-site)
Salary: £75,000 - £95,000 per annum (subject to experience) + Bonus + Benefits

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Director to lead our business development initiatives in the military vehicles sector.

You will be responsible for driving growth, identifying new business opportunities, and building strategic partnerships to expand our presence in this competitive market and grow our Vehicle Systems, Services and Spares (VSSS) Business Unit.

The VSSS Business Unit provides support for the global expansion of NP Aerospace’s military vehicle engineering and technical services operations. VSSS specialises in complete vehicle integration and support solutions, including the Protected Mobility Engineering Technical Support (PMETS) contract that places NP Aerospace as engineering authority for the UK Ministry of Defence protected mobility fleet. The VSSS team has over 25 years of experience leading complex military vehicle integrations and has supported over 2,000 vehicle platforms.

The role is primarily site-based, but there can be some flexibility around your working schedule and a level of work-from-home, where suitable.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

You will be a highly experienced Business Development (BD) professional with robust communication, management, and commercial skills. You will possess a proven track record in executing and delivering successfully across multiple products, especially within the automotive, engineering and / or Defence sector.

You will be sales-oriented with strong tactical abilities and a natural drive to meet sales targets and business commitments. You excel in building effective relationships within challenging environments and multi-functional teams, demonstrating strong negotiation skills with customers and stakeholders.

Strategic planning and international experience are essential, as is the ability to manage budgets effectively and analyse data to inform business decisions. You will be innovative, proactive, and willing to travel both domestically and internationally for business needs.​

Proficiency in MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint, exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work under pressure are also key attributes.

JOB DUTIES

* Drive significant organisational growth across the range of VSSS portfolios through planned and targeted activity.

* Build and nurture strong, successful, close key customer relationships to ensure current business is secure with continuous assessment of client needs and opportunities for growth resulting in improved profitability.

* Identify new customers and new prospects with existing customers by pursuing opportunities in target markets for VSSS products, and services.

* Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and your direct reports to ensure the continual delivery of revenue and profit targets and ensure all interrelated strategic goals align with the corporate business objectives.

* Generating leads through networking at trade shows and other marketing opportunities.Ensuring follow up of leads and referrals in conjunction with the Bid Team and contract software.

* Lead and manage the VSSS UK/ROW BD Team to deliver successful growth and further grow our position as a market leader in VSSS.

* Regular engagement with the marketing team to ensure that the VSSS business is appropriately presented, and key messages transmitted, internally and externally, via all appropriate media, in a timely and professional manner.

* Understand and promote the distinctive competencies of NP Aerospace products and services with time visiting existing and potential customers, networking and representing the brand and function at a range of events, exhibitions, and trade shows where you will lead the VSSS engagement. This will include planning, preparing, and delivering high quality presentations to display our technologies, products, services, and capabilities.

* Lead, manage and co-ordinate VSSS stakeholder engagement, be it political, B2G or B2B, liaising with internal stake holders including the CEO, Business Unit MDs and the Senior Leadership Team.

* Continuously measure BD performance to ensure targets are met or exceeded and that customers are satisfied. Regular progress and status reporting to the Executive.

* Proactively manage the VSSS BD budget and play a leading part in the construct of the sales and marketing elements of the company forecast and budget liaising with the finance team and other stakeholders to ensure targets are met alongside effective and efficient management throughout the financial year.

* Gather and analyse market data to keep abreast of issues affecting industry and collect competitor intelligence and reporting on a regular basis.

EXPERIENCE

* Extensive experience in a senior business development management position, preferably defence related.

* Exceptional communication and selling skills.

* Used to continuous learning and understanding of technical information on a wide portfolio of current products and prospective products and services.

* Demonstrable competency in planning and leading business development strategies.

* Working knowledge of data analysis and business development metrics.

* Demonstrable competency in problem-solving in BD.

* Degree, or equivalent qualifications, ideally with technical / engineering qualification or relevant technical experience.
