Business Development ManagerLocation: South BirminghamSalary: £60,000 - £65,000 + £5,000 Car AllowanceAbout the RoleA premier opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join a Leading Engineering company based in South Birmingham. This role is perfect for a motivated individual with a proven track record in sales and business development, particularly within the automotive or industrial sectors.Key Responsibilities:New Business Development: Identify and create new business opportunities with potential new customers. Negotiate and close new business deals and commercial agreements at senior levels.Opportunity Assessment: Review and assess opportunities based on strategic goals and objectives. Screen potential business deals by analysing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials.Account Management: Maintain and grow existing customer accounts. Build and maintain relationships, meet regularly with relevant customer personnel, and professionally represent the business.Sales Objectives: Establish sales objectives, forecast, and develop annual sales quotas for products and commodities. Project expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products and maintain the 5-year business plan.Market Analysis: Maintain sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, market conditions, economic indicators, and competitors.Internal Coordination: Chair Enquiry Kick-Off Meetings, lead internal discussions, and ensure all deadlines are met for customers.Cost Analysis: Ensure full cost analysis is met through internal QAF, considering procured items, manufacturing process, tooling, capital, logistics, raw materials price, etc.Offer Preparation: Prepare, present, and submit offers in a timely manner, ensuring company conditions are quoted.Feedback and Reporting: Provide feedback to the Senior Management Team regarding future customer requirements and expectations. Provide monthly sales reports and KPI tracking to the Commercial Director.Industry Engagement: Identify business development ideas by researching and attending industry events, publications, and announcements.Additional Duties: Support the business as required.Qualifications and Experience:Education: BA Degree/HNC level in an Engineering discipline (preferable) or equivalent proven experience.Experience: Proven track record in sales, business development, and winning new business. Experience within 1st and/or 2nd Tier automotive supplier and/or Off-Highway – Industrial sectors with IATF16949 quality management system.Skills: Negotiation skills, engineering background, understanding of Lean manufacturing processes, extensive client portfolio/contacts base, and a full UK driving license.Characteristics: Dynamic, fast-paced, self-motivated, team-oriented, flexible, loyal, committed, proactive, attention to detail, punctual, reliable, perseverance, integrity, and trust.Skills: Relationship building, commercial understanding, excellent negotiation, communication (written, verbal, presenting), interpersonal skills, problem-solving, verbal, and numerical skills, IT/PC/MS software skills, reporting, and project management.Additional Information:Travel: Some UK and overseas travel will be necessary.Confidentiality: The role involves handling sensitive and confidential information.Meeting Deadlines: The position requires regular deadlines to be met consistently.If you are a dynamic, self-motivated individual with a proven background in business development and a passion for achieving results, we would love to hear from you.
