We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our market-leading team in Leicester to sell multi-carrier parcel solutions to online e-commerce retailers.

This role requires frequent travel, a car choice or allowance is available, and you are required to hold a full UK driving licence.

What's involved in this Business Development Manager role?

  • Lead Generation - Follow up on leads received from other sources. Serve as the key point of contact for identified prospective customers.
  • Promote and sell all Parcelhub products to potential customers in addition to identifying cross-selling opportunities in the wider Whistl Group.
  • Sales Planning - Create, agree, and execute a sales plan for your geographic area.
  • Present solutions to customers - Identify and understand prospective customer needs and how our solutions can be tailored to help resolve their problems. Deliver presentations to bring our proposition to life with the goal of securing new business wins.
  • Collaboration - Work with both customers and colleagues to ensure a smooth onboarding journey that creates a strong foundation for the customer relationship.
  • Develop -Plan and conduct sales calls and develop relationships in the local market.
  • Admin - Effectively utilise CRM and sales lead generation tools to maintain an accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline.
  • Work as part of a team - Help build and be part of a team, working with Account Management, Finance and the local Depot Management team to increase our volume of the right parcel traffic into the depot and provide our customers with a service we can be proud of.

Essential Skills

What do you need to be successful?

  • You will have 3 years of experience in selling parcel services to eCommerce businesses with a proven track record in meeting sales targets.
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of your customer's needs and requirements, articulating this through effective verbal and written communications.
  • Use your experience to influence at senior levels via face-to-face presentations, virtual meetings, and telephone calls.
  • You will have the ability to multi-task and prioritise a number of requirements within set deadlines.
  • You will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both colleagues and customers.
  • You will have strong analytical and numeracy skills, including the ability to analyse data, draw relevant conclusions, and make recommendations to customers.

The sales area will be based in Nottingham or Leicester; ideally, you will be located within reasonable commuting distance of either depot.
