As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team and contribute to our ongoing success.
The Role
As
Business Development Manager,
your primary goal is to maximise conference and event revenue by developing and executing proactive sales strategies. You will work closely with internal teams, including Marketing, Sales and Events, to deliver exceptional service and exceed revenue targets. The role involves both client-facing sales and strategic planning, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys building strong client relationships.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue from both existing and new clients, with a focus on conferences, meetings and events.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key business partners, clients and competitor venues to stay informed on market trends and maximise opportunities.
Attend and exhibit at trade shows, networking events and industry forums to promote One Great George Street and generate new business leads.
Work closely with the Marketing Manager to attract customers through targeted market segmentation and effective sales campaigns.
Prepare and analyse monthly and quarterly sales reports, including market segment comparison and revenue forecasts, to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
Support and develop junior sales staff, providing mentoring and guidance to enhance their proactive sales skills and ensure sales targets are met.
Liaise with the Events and Revenue Management teams to ensure smooth handover of sales bookings and maintain high standards of customer service throughout the client journey.
What We're Looking For in You
Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within the
events, hospitality, or conference
sectors is essential.
A proactive sales mindset with a focus on achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present professionally to clients and internal stakeholders.
A passion for delivering exceptional customer service, combined with the ability to understand and respond to client needs.
A strong understanding of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) market and the ability to stay informed on industry trends and competitor activity.
Background using
Rendezvous, Fidelio, or Delphi
diary systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Able to travel when required for trade shows, client meetings and industry events.
