Mechanical CAD Engineer
At WorkLyf Group, we are recruiting for a Mechanical CAD Design Engineer based in Warrington.
Our global client is looking for someone who works on all aspects of a project from conducting on-site surveys to generating and issuing documentation. They are responsible for producing p&ids in close co-operation with the Process team plus mechanical equipment layout drawings in accordance with industry standards, codes and client specifications. The mechanical CAD Engineer will also be involved in checking work produced by other CAD team members and conducting pre-delivery equipment inspections at supplier workshops.
Key Skills + Experience
o Autodesk suite of products, primarily AutoCAD Plant 3D
o Navisworks. Freedom, Simulate and/or Manage
o MS Office suite of products, primarily Outlook, Word and Excel
o Working in the Food, Beverage, Dairy and Pharmaceutical industries;
o P&ids
o 2D and 3D General Arrangement / Site layout drawings
o Pipe work routing and isometric drawings
o Frame-mounted skid fabrication drawings
o Site surveys
o High degree of self-motivation
o Ability to work under pressure
o Problem solving and originality
o Thorough attention to detail
o Analytical thinking skills
o The ability to work well in a team o Familiar with technical data sheets and supplier catalogues
Typical Activities
Create basic and intelligent P&IDs using client drawing standards
Generate 2D and 3D plant layout drawings, detailing pipe work routes and equipment positions
Generate automatic pipe work isometric drawings, using AutoCAD Plant 3D
3D modelling of supplier / bought-out equipment
Create 2D and 3D frame mounted skid fabrication drawings
Prepare equipment schedules, material take-offs and bill of materials, using AutoCAD Plant 3D / p&id
General
Work closely with other departments to provide engineered solutions to customers requirements
Work within deadlines
Ensure designs are fit for purpose and safe
Review designs in accordance with industry standards, codes, and client specifications
Conduct site surveys: p&id walkthroughs and as built equipment positions
Attend site and carry out 3D laser scans, then convert data into pointclouds for use in Autodesk products
Attend fabricator workshops to conduct pre-delivery inspections and sign-off for delivery to client
Issuing documentation to in accordance with standard procedures
Special Conditions
UK and overseas travel may be expected, and a full, clean driving licence will be required. Additional hours outside the normal 35 hour working week may occasionally be required to meet the requirements of the business.
