Category Marketing Managers certainly need to know every detail of the product category which sounds obvious but it's the market and consumer trends, the competition and understanding how to be one step ahead to make the most of future opportunities from your consumer insight skills. What does the retailer need to give them the edge and drive market share, make the category stand out for them amongst the ever-increasing competition from rival food manufacturers and the other retailers.

This role will see you working with own label products and well-known brands in a team who are based all over the UK. You will have the flexibility to work from home with some visits to site but due to the number of visits to site it's more of a remote role with less than 20 site visits per year.

The Role

  • Working closely with commercial and development, supporting future development projects, giving that vital consumer insight into future market trends.
  • With a flat structure there is a real opportunity as the Category Manager for exposure to the senior team and Exec.
  • Customer facing - working closely with the relevant contacts in the retailer.
  • Getting under the skin of the category working closely with product development and commercial.
  • A high proficiency with numbers - intuitive, able to interpret data and translate that into effective, commercially advantageous plans.
  • Communication - verbal and written form. Massively important in equal measure.
  • Working from home with monthly visits to site.

Your background

  • Experience in marketing or commercial with exposure to development - ideally in a category management or experienced category executive ready to make the next step.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills - proficient on retail data source eg Kantar, IRI.
  • A good communicator - confident and able
  • Ideally, some customer facing experience
  • Able to work to deadlines and prioritise effectively
  • Qualified to degree level
