Chemistry Technician

Job Title: Chemistry Technician and Analyst

Location: Middlesbrough

Salary: �25 - �33k

Shifts: Days regular

Metalis is working in partnership with a large specialist engineering company in Middlesbrough who due to continuous growth are looking to hire a skilled Chemistry Technician on a 12-week temporary to permanent contract.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Booking of work into the Lab Management Information based computer System, typing results in and printing reports.
• Preparation of samples, prior to analysis, by microwave dissolution and polishing / linishing/ sawing/shearing.
• Performing duties in accordance with internal quality system and health & safety procedures.
• Undertaking chemical analysis of metal alloys using a wide variety of laboratory equipment including ICP-OES, OES, XRF, gas techniques such as combustion & fusion.
• Undertaking powder characterisation tests such as particle size distribution, sieve analysis, flow rate, apparent density and tap density.
• Ensuring that equipment maintenance, routine calibrations and quality control checks are performed on time.
• Contributing to the improvement in the organisation and efficiency of the workplace by implementing agreed continuous improvement ideas.
• Monitoring of laboratory consumables and ordering new consumables as required.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping within the laboratory.

Shifts and Salary:

• Hours are Monday - Thursday 8.30 am - 5 pm and Friday 8.30 am - 4 pm
• Salary is between a band of �25,000 - �33,000 per annum.
• 12 week temporary to permanent contract.
