As the Chief Accounting Officer - Europe, at DRW, you will be overseeing all accounting and regulatory reporting requirements for the firm across Europe. This role is crucial in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, meeting regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial leadership. You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and work closely with senior management to drive the firm's financial strategy and operations. The position requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of European regulatory frameworks, and the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders within and outside the organization.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead, mentor and develop Europe Controller and Prudential Financial Reporting Manager to ensure high performance and professional growth.

  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with UK/EU GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.

  • Develop or improve upon robust financial reporting systems and controls, mitigating financial risks.

  • Ensure adherence to all financial regulations and compliance requirements and keep updated on changes in financial regulations to ensure firm compliance.

  • Review and approve key prudential regulatory documentation and reporting (e.g. ICARA, FINREP, IFREP, MIF001, MIF002, MIF003, MIF004) timely and accurately.



  • Monitor/Supervise the liquidity and capital adequacy assessment processes (ICARA) and related documentation, as well as the recovery and resolution planning processes and documentation for UK and EU entities.

  • Be familiar with minimum capital requirements and understand the process for contributing additional or withdrawing excess capital, including timelines for regulatory approval.

  • Responsible overseeing compliance with (IFR/IFD) related to capital calculation

  • Be able to run ad hoc capital impact reports

  • Prepare and deliver legal entity disclosure documents under IFPR

  • Manage the ongoing automation of the daily capital calculation for all UK and EU regulated entities

  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies.

  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

  • Collaborate with the CFO and other executives to develop long-term financial plans and budgets.

  • Identify and manage financial risks, opportunities, and investments.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the accounting department.

  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless financial operations.

  • Leverage financial technology and accounting software to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

  • Ensure the integrity and security of financial data.

  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and recommend relevant updates.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Law, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA, ACA) is preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience with at least 5 years in a senior management role, preferably within the trading or financial services industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and financial regulations.

  • Extensive knowledge of European regulatory frameworks, including Basel III/IV, CRD IV/V, MiFID II, GDPR, and other relevant regulations

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.

  • Proficiency in regulatory reporting software and tools.

  • High level of integrity and ethical standards.

  • Ability to lead and inspire a team towards achieving organizational goals.

  • Meticulous attention to detail in financial reporting and compliance.

  • Ability to align accounting practices with the firm’s strategic objectives.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound financial decisions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of other European languages is an asset.
