Spirehouse Recruitment has partnered with The Retired Minister’s Housing Society to secure their new Chief Executive Officer. The Retired Minister’s Housing Society is a part of the United Reformed Church, which provides housing for Ministers in retirement, suitable for long-term occupation. With just under 300 properties dispersed across the UK, The RMHS have a very individual set of challenges that would suit any candidates seeking a role with a difference. Further, the RMHS is in a period of change while structures and policies are reviewed, and this role will be pivotal in leading and supporting that change.The Chief Executive Officer role would ideally start swiftly, though notice periods are not ruling applications out. As a faith-based charity focused on providing high-level accommodation and support to retired Ministers, bringing people together, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and building authentic relationships is paramount to succeed in the post.The business are looking to promote a culture of open and effective communication to enable constructive relationships, nurture equality and diversity, and truly embrace collaboration to foster continuous improvement.The Chief Executive Officer post will cover many facets, many of which are detailed in the full job description, though please see an outline below of some key highlights:Line ManagementThe team includes Maintenance Surveyors, a Property Transactions Coordinator, a Sustainability Project Lead, a Tenancy Manager, and a Personal AssistantUndertake all responsibilities and duties of line management under the Church’s policies and procedures with regular supervision, training, and development of direct reportsStrategy, Policy and ProcedureCreation and development of policies and procedures as a part of taking the company through its new structureGovernance and ComplianceEnsure that systems and processes are in place for the financial management of RMHS, including the maintenance of financial records and the preparation of annual accountsTogether with Trustees, ensure that the charity acts within its objects and functions within the legal, charitable, and financial requirements of a charitable companyMaintain a risk management register and advise the Trustees of key risks and mitigating actions to address themEnsure the property portfolio is legally compliant at all times with appropriate internal audit procedures in placeProperty TransactionsOversee all aspects of buying and selling properties, including the negotiation of prices and the use of surveyors and solicitors, ensuring legal/regulatory complianceApprove the payment of funds relating to the purchase of propertiesEnsure the creation and execution of appropriate Tenancy Agreements and Declarations of Trust and update/amend Create Declarations of Trust where synods have an interest in a RMHS propertyProperty ManagementDevelop and maintain suitable systems and records for the effective administration of the Society, including the development of a database to record and monitor maintenance of properties Arrange adequate insurance for all owned properties and negotiate policies accordinglyOversee commercial letting of vacant properties when sale is not anticipated in foreseeable futureTenantsParticipate in Preparing for Retirement Courses by preparing and delivering content relating to RMHSBuild relationships with tenants and potential tenants from pre-retirement course through to final purchase and beyond to ensure that properties meet the changing needs of the tenantsManage all requests for assistance with retirement housing, providing information and evaluating applications within the terms of the scheme To secure the Chief Executive Officer post, the Society is seeking the below:Proven experience at a senior leadership level in either the Charity or Social Housing spacesProven experience in change managementBuilding management experience at a senior levelUpdated knowledge of current legislation and practicePlease apply for this role online or contact Matt Baird at Spirehouse for a confidential discussion.0121 798 049807411 470 ##### Recruitment is an equal opportunities employment business and employment agency.
