Children's Safeguarding Team, Redcar & Cleveland Council

Redcar & Cleveland Council's Children's Services is seeking a compassionate and skilled Children's Social Worker to join our dedicated Children's Safeguarding Team. We are committed to providing high-quality support and protection to children at risk, ensuring their safety and well-being are paramount.

Your Role:

As a Children's Safeguarding Team member, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding children in Redcar & Cleveland, playing a vital role in protecting them from harm.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Responding to Concerns: Thoroughly investigating referrals and concerns about children at risk of abuse or neglect, ensuring prompt and effective action is taken.
  • Conducting Assessments: Conducting comprehensive assessments to understand the child's circumstances, needs, and risks, including physical, emotional, and developmental factors.
  • Developing Care Plans: Creating individualized care plans outlining strategies to safeguard the child, address their needs, and support their wellbeing.
  • Working with Families: Engaging with families to provide support, guidance, and interventions aimed at promoting positive change and reducing risk to the child.
  • Multi-agency Collaboration: Working effectively with other professionals and agencies involved in the child's care, including police, health services, education providers, and youth justice services.
  • Court Work: Providing expert testimony in court proceedings, advocating for the child's best interests.
  • Maintaining Case Records: Keeping detailed and accurate records of assessments, interventions, and outcomes, ensuring clear and concise documentation of the child's journey.

Key Requirements:


  • Social Work Qualification: You must be a qualified Social Worker.
  • Social Care England Registration: Essential for this role.
  • Updated DBS: Essential for working with children and families.
  • Experience in Child Protection: Demonstrated experience working with children at risk of abuse or neglect, and a strong understanding of child safeguarding principles and practices.
  • Excellent Assessment and Case Management Skills: Proven ability to conduct comprehensive assessments, develop effective care plans, and manage complex cases effectively.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, other professionals, and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding Children: Passion for protecting children and ensuring their rights and well-being are paramount.
