Qualified Social Worker - Looked After Children with some Leaving Care experience required

About the Role:

Westminster Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join our Looked After Children Team.

In this role, you will work primarily with looked after children, supporting their journey through care, and ensuring positive outcomes. You will also work with young people transitioning to independence, providing them with guidance, resources, and support as they prepare to leave the care system.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Undertake statutory duties in relation to children in care, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and local policies.
  2. Build and maintain meaningful relationships with looked after children, young people, and their families.
  3. Develop and implement care plans tailored to each child's needs, working closely with multi-agency partners.
  4. Support young people transitioning out of care with a focus on independent living, education, and employment pathways.
  5. Actively contribute to team discussions, case reviews, and planning for children's best interests.

Requirements:

  • Social Work England registration.
  • Proven experience working with looked after children and young people in care.
  • Knowledge of child development, care planning, and safeguarding.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trusted relationships.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Working Arrangement:

This role is primarily office-based at Westminster Council, with some flexibility for remote working.
