I have a FANTASTIC opportunity for a Children's Support Worker to join a STUNNING children's residential service supporting young people between the ages of 8-18 who present a range of emotional, behavioural & complex interpersonal behavioural needs.
**Due to the nature of the job and the activities involved, we are only able to consider applicants who have a full driver's licence and a car**
We are looking for a PASSIONATE, COMMITTED and MOTIVATED individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of young people; to enable them to develop socially, emotionally and behaviourally in a setting where they feel safe and cared for.
You will be positive, motivated, and able to engage, encourage and mentor the young people, whilst having a whole lot of fun!
Salary: £28,500 - £30,400 (sleep allowance included)
Location: Abergavenny (NP7 postcode)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week plus sleeps
Rota Pattern: 2 on 4 off shift pattern

As a Children's Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Encouraging young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
- Keeping the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
- Dealing with challenging behaviours when needed.
- Protecting children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
- Providing support for the children and young people in the home and promoting their independence and well-being.
- Maintaining a safe environment for young people.
- Ensuring the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
- Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
- Developing and maintaining good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.
Requirements:
- NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People is not essential but desirable
- 1-year experience in a residential children's home environment is not essential but desirable
- A Full Driving Licence is ESSENTIAL as you may be required to transport the children from time to time
- Ability to work the shift pattern (8am-10pm plus sleep ins)
