Children's Psychotherapist

Up to £40,000

Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of children? We have a new opportunity for a qualified children's psychotherapist with a strong background in working with children and adolescents affected by trauma. You will be part of our professional Health and Wellbeing Team, working in a trauma-responsive way to address emotional and behavioural challenges. You will provide direct therapeutic support to children, whilst also offering guidance to the teams who support them and report to our Senior Therapy Team.

Your role and responsibilities,

• You will meet with children individually and sometimes within groups and work with carers or family members to provide interventions to meet their individual needs.

• You will work closely with our Health and Wellbeing Team and will provide therapeutic support for our children and deliver therapeutic training for our teams.

• You will share your observations to help our teams understand behaviours and tailor strategies and interventions to create a personalised approach to each child's care.

• You will formulate meaningful and relevant plans of support and care for our children, which will include assessment and report writing.

• You will utilise our outdoor space and facilities, where possible, to engage and inspire our children.

• You will be working on a flexible basis, working both at our Head Office in Penrith and in our children's homes. There will be the opportunity to work from home on occasions.

• You travel throughout Cumbria to visit our children and care teams regularly.

Key qualities that we look for,

• Substantial experience of working directly with children in a psychology or counselling capacity

• You will hold a UKCP/BACP registration and a qualification in counselling, level 4 or above

• You will have excellent knowledge of trauma and attachment theories, with the ability to draw on your knowledge to support the practice of our teams

• You will have a good understanding of legislation and regulations surrounding residential childcare.

• You will have excellent skills in safeguarding children

• Ability to understand the individual needs of each child

• Ability to work on your own and to tight deadlines

• Excellent communication skills

• Proficient skills in IT and record keeping

• A full, valid, UK driving licence and access to your own transport
