Civil / Architectural Engineer (LSS) required for a major offshore wind developer based in England

Responsibilities

  • Lead all engineering efforts for the design of civil, structural, building services, landscape, and architectural works necessary for the effective completion of a Land Substation
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary team (e.g. Electrical-, Onshore Cable-, Substation Work Package, EPC contractor, Owner's Engineer, Land- & Consents-, and Stakeholder team, National Grid, etc) to ensure seamless integration of all design aspects. Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and understanding of project requirements and progress.
  • Assist Design Document process of all civil design concepts and philosophies (in-house & external), ensuring they align with employer's requirements.
  • Oversee & evaluate the final design and implementation, which will be undertaken as part of the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) by the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) contractor.
  • Review on main EPC contract's tender feedback (designs and specification etc.)
  • Monitor and guide the EPCI contractor throughout the detailed design and implementation phases to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes and standards.
  • Manage civil construction timelines, -budgets, and -resources effectively to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
  • Address any concerns or queries from stakeholders promptly and effectively.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the project team, including resolving any civil design or construction issues that arise.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, design documentation, and project status updates for stakeholders.
  • Ensure all project documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and stored appropriately.

Requirements

  • Completed studies (diploma/master's degree) in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or comparable courses of study.
  • Several years of professional experience in the field of civil, structural, building services, landscape, and architectural works for (onshore) electrical substations and power cables.
  • Ideally, knowledge/experience in project management (incl. planning, budgeting, and resource allocation. Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is a plus); experience in FIDIC based contracts.
  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK construction laws, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards. Familiarity with the planning & permitting processes in the UK
  • Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and other relevant tools is a plus.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognized institution such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
  • Membership with relevant professional bodies (e.g., ICE, RIBA, Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE)).
