Our client is currently looking to recruit Design Engineers to work on the Suffolk Highways contract in Ipswich. They have multiple design engineer opportunities within their team.

As a Design Engineer you will be part of our Design team who are responsible for producing design solutions to maintain and improve highway infrastructure in Suffolk.

As a Design Engineer your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Produce design packages, reports and other deliverables to achieve project outcomes;
  • Organise and undertake site visits and surveys
  • Deliver successful projects to agreed time and cost expectations whilst ensuring work is undertaken in compliance with internal quality standards and processes;
  • Ensure work is undertaken in compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Resource planning and co-ordination of multi disciplinary teams, including sub consultants;
  • Staff and people management including training and development and staff performance reviews;
  • Working collaboratively with customers to understand and develop project objectives and deliverables;
  • Managing, building and developing customer relationships.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Incorporated Engineer or highly experienced engineer working towards IEng / CEng;
  • Design and construction experience in the highways/Drainage/Structures sector
  • A commercial awareness in the delivery of projects
  • Awareness / experience of Local Highway Authority standards
  • Evidence of developing assistant engineers, graduates and technicians
  • Working knowledge of programming tools such as ASTA
  • Evidence of managing Health & Safety & Environment in design and construction
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other design software including for drainage, alignment and traffic signs desirable.
  • Computer literate particularly with packages such as Microsoft Excel and Word
  • UK/EEC driving licence
