Class 2 Refuse Driver

Are you an experienced Refuse Driver with a Class 2 vehicle licence? Our client, a leading waste management organisation in Leyland, is looking for skilled and reliable Refuse Drivers to join their team!

The Role:

As a Refuse Driver, you will play a vital role in assisting the Recycling/Refuse Loaders. Your responsibilities will include operating and loading HGV 2 refuse vehicles, covering a mix of residential and commercial premises on designated routes , conducting daily vehicle checks, and promptly reporting any defects. You'll also perform routine maintenance to ensure compliance with regulations and optimise vehicle performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Recycling/Refuse Loaders efficiently and effectively.


• Conduct daily Operators Licence vehicle checks, maintaining accurate record sheets.


• Immediately report any vehicle or equipment defects to the Vehicle Fleet Management service.


• Undertake routine maintenance and repairs, minimising breakdowns and ensuring compliance.


• Operate the vehicle in a manner that supports the team in achieving their round targets.


• Safely load and unload heavy items onto the bin wagon.

Hours:

Monday - Friday

Usual hours 7.15am - 3.30pm but overtime maybe required. Shorter finish on Fridays!

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Experience of driving Refuse Collection Vehicles and rear steer HGVs


• Valid Class 2 driver's licence.


• Ability to lift and carry heavy weights on a frequent and repetitive basis and walk considerable distances


• Excellent knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety practices.


• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.


• Willingness to adhere to safety regulations and wear appropriate gear, including safety boots and a high-visibility vest.
