Insight Employment are recruiting for an experienced Class Two HGV Driver for a client of ours in Haddenham.



The Role: -



As Class Two HGV Driver you will be delivering frozen fish and catering food to their customers Fish & Chip shops. Unsing a differing array of vehicles and equipment.



Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities: -




  1. To ensure all vehicles used are checked to be in a roadworthy condition, and any faults found to be written on the daily defect sheet and reported to your depot/transport management.

  2. To make sure that the loading area of every vehicle used is in a clean and in a tidy manor ready to accept the product(s) for the days runs.

  3. To plan and schedule order deliveries of the Company’s products to customers premises according to company procedure and guidelines.

  4. To ensure that all stock and “Block Fish” is accounted for before leaving the premises by means of a physical check and verification via means of a signature on the Bill of Laden.           

  5. To ensure that delivery vehicles are driven, parked in a safe and legal manner, bearing in mind to be courteous to other road users as befit a professional driver.

  6. Ensure the vehicle is fully secured and locked when away from the vehicle to prevent theft of the vehicle or any product or company property.

  7. To ensure as a Drivers you adhere to current legislation and driving laws within your driving class.

  8. To ensure effective communications verbally within the distribution team and across the company. Maintain communication with customers, and Head Office personnel to feedback information on quality, delivery errors, stock errors, shortages and possible returns. 

  9. Ensure that all accidents/incidents are fully reported to the Depot/Transport manager and all relevant paperwork is filled out to a high legible standard. 

  10. To ensure that the paperwork to facilitate the deliveries of orders or returns are completed to company standards and guidelines, the paperwork is to be handed in daily after completion of your duties.

  11. To make sure the onboard vehicle safe has been fitted and secured correctly prior to leaving your depot.

  12. You are responsible to ensure that all cash bags, cheque envelopes that are collected during your tour of duty are placed within the vehicle safe and not left loose or unattended within the vehicle cab..

  13. You will be held liable for any loss or short fall of any cash or cheques that has occurred due to negligence.

  14. To ensure the onboard vehicle safe has been emptied and all cash bags, cheque envelopes are handed in to the Depot Manager/supervisor or the cashier staff at Hull at the end of the working day, and to make sure all cash/cheque bags tally.

  15. To ensure that all vehicles are refuelled and kept in a clean and tidy manor at the end of your shift.

  16. Ensure that your bearing and turnout is of adequate standard, and that company issued safety clothing (PPE) is worn at all times while performing your duties while representing the company. Please note the company operates a ban on the wearing of shorts.

  17. Ensure you are fit to drive and do not suffer the effects from alcohol or drugs.

  18. You are on request to aid in the general housekeeping of your workplace/depot, and to help maintain cleanliness and Health and Safety.

  19. As drivers are deemed Lone Workers when out delivering you are to maintain your own Health and Safety and report without delay any issues regarding Health and Safety.

  20. You will be required to complete work related courses as directed by the Training Managers. These courses could range from First Aid, Annual Refresher Training, DCPC, and any new procedures being implemented, or being updated.

  21. You are to ensure that you are in possession of all the relevant PODs and stock for your deliveries before departing the depot. You must report any missing PODs or stock to your Depot Manager or your sales team by phone or other methods.

  22. To carry out any other duties/tasks/responsibilities within the overall context of this job description.



Requirements: -



Must have HGV class two experience for a minimum of a year



Must have been doing HGV work withing the last 6 months



Must have a valid CPC card/Tacho licence



Must have had your driving licence for at least two years, have a maximum of 6 points (no CD, DD, DR, IN endorsements)



Must be reliable



Must by physically fit as you will be lifting and carrying boxes of fish up to 30kg each



Must be able to work Bank Holidays including Easter.



THIS IS A TEMP TO PERM POSITION TO A SUITABLE CANDIDATE



Other information once permanent: -




  • 48 hours guaranteed.

  • 27 days holiday (3 days to be kept for Christmas Day/Boxing Day & New Years Day).



Shift/Hours: -



Mon – Fri, occasional Saturdays pending on depot operational need although extremely rare.



Start time between 05:30am - 06:30am until Finish



Rates: -



£14.50 - £15.00 per hour depending on experience
