A prestigious multi-disciplined Property and Construction Consultancy is seeking a dedicated Clerk of Works to join their team for a pioneering project in North London, focusing on Passive Fire Protection.

The Clerk Of Works Role

The incoming Clerk of Works will join a close-knit, relaxed, and supportive community of long-serving professionals who value open and honest relationships with management. The initial project will last for 12 months in North London. Following this, the Clerk of Works will transition to various new-build and refurbishment projects across London and the South Counties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site inspections on residential developments.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant fire safety regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Review and approve fire safety plans, designs, and materials used in RC frameworks.
  • Promote a culture of fire safety awareness.
  • Liaise with fire safety consultants and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate with design and construction teams to integrate fire safety measures from the planning stage.
  • Attend project meetings and provide input on fire safety matters.
  • Verify contractor compliance with contract drawings, specifications, Building Regulations, and Building Warranty standards.
  • Complete reports using tablet-based reporting systems.
  • Perform snagging inspections before Practical Completion.
  • Issue lists of identified defects.

The Clerk Of Works

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in fire safety management within the construction industry.
  • A diploma or degree in Fire Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in fire safety or construction safety (e.g., NEBOSH, FPA, IFE, Site Manager) are highly desirable.
  • Professional memberships such as ICWCI, MCIOB, RICS, or IFE.
  • Proven experience with RC frameworks and high-rise building projects.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., NFPA, BS 9999, BS 9991).
  • Experience with fire door inspections.
  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle.

  • Competitive salary of �55,000 - �60,000.
  • Monday to Friday schedule with site hours from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Both site and office-based work, with offices located in Bournemouth, Thatcham, and Southampton.
