Job Title: Clinical Coder



Location: Remote working role



Hours: 37.5 hours per week – manager will also accept applications from candidates wishing to work part time hours



Trust Location: Stockport NHS Foundation Trust



Role type: Temporary ongoing



What you’ll be responsible for:



· Coded clinical data is used to support healthcare planning, reimbursement, management of services, statistical analysis and research therefore it is essential that data is accurately and consistently recorded to well-defined standards. he post-holder will work as part of a team providing an efficient and high quality clinical coding service to support the business and clinical needs of the Trust, by ensuring accurate and timely translation and input of medical terminology, within specified local and national timescales.



· The post-holder will abstract, analyse and translate complex medical, interventional, procedural and other clinical information from patient’s health records into a coded format using (ICD10) International Classification of Diseases and (OPCS) Office of Population Census and Surveys Classification, adhering to the rules and conventions as set down by NHS Digital



· Dealing with enquiries; liaise with clinicians regarding coding queries



· Locate and collates missing source material e.g. missing case notes or electronic



documentation, histology or data quality records



· Apply knowledge of complex national coding standards in order to assign codes using the ICD



and OPCS classifications to record all diagnoses, procedures and interventions for in-patient, day case and regular day/night admissions, although this will be monitored (through audit)



This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.



You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:



1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS



2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times



3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation



You’ll have the following skills/experience:



· Holds the Clinical Coding National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ)



· Strong attention to detail



· NHS experience (essential)



· Experience of using scanned notes and an encoder would be desirable



· Competent with Microsoft office programmes
