Clinical Lead - Infection Control Link Nurse | West Midlands Hospital | Part Time 22.5 Hours Per Week

West Midlands Hospital are recruiting for a Clinical Lead - Infection Control Link Nurse to join the team on a part time contract.

The successful candidate will be expected

  • To carry out the necessary  surveillance to identify and monitor infections within the hospital
  • To provide advice on Infection Prevention and Control issues and to contribute in the interpretation and development of local procedures based on group policy for the prevention and control of infection.
  • To undertake training and education on Infection Prevention and Control issues.
  • To attend and provide reports for Infection Control and Clinical Governance Committees.
  • To carry out environmental audits for infection prevention and control throughout the hospital, ensuring that action plans are developed and instigated
  • Liaise closely with all heads of department on Infection Prevention and Control issues
  • To help create and maintain an environment that will ensure the safety of the patient/client, his or her relatives, visitors and Health Care Workers using infection prevention and control knowledge, communication skills, nursing and teaching skills and attitudes appropriate to each situation
  • To co-ordinate all aspects of Infection Prevention and Control issues within the hospital on behalf of the Hospital Director

What you'll bring with you

  • Current NMC registration
  • At least 30 credits at level 5 or 6 in modules relevant to Infection Prevention and Control Practice or recognised Infection Prevention and Control qualification/willingness to undertake
  • A teaching/assessing qualification or equivalent - desirable

  • The ability to make decisions and use your own initiative
  • Strong communication skills

About us

West Midlands Hospital is one of the West Midland's leading private hospitals set in 3.5 acres of pleasant grounds at Colman Hill, Halesowen, ten miles from Birmingham City Centre. Operating since 1988 the hospital has 29 private bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities.

By investing in advanced medical technology, the hospital offers a wide range of treatments and services. We have two theatres one with Lamina flow, and cover a wide range of surgical specialities; these include Orthopaedics, General surgery, Gynaecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Cosmetic and urology. We also have a separate endoscopy suite.

In September 2020, we opened a designated off-site ambulatory care unit with an operating theatre and two recovery bays, located less than 5 miles from the West Midlands hospital to enable us to offer more services to our patients. This role is a key role in ensuring the success of multi-site theatre working.
