CNC Grinding Machinist

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented CNC Grinding Machinist to join our client, a leading manufacturing company in the UK. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to fabricate parts and components according to specifications. Your precision and mechanical knowledge will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fluting and grinding of mill cylinders
• Sieve recovering
• Small repairs
• Occasional upgrades/overhauls

Main Duties:

• Operate CNC and PLC machines for fluting and grinding of mill cylinders
• Operate manual press and laith
• Conduct quality control and inspection with meticulous accuracy, using tools such as micrometres
• Manually dismantle and rebuild roll packs and provide bearing fitting services
• Ensure all documentation is completed and stored using MS Office tools

Experience:

• Previous machine workshop experience is essential
• Previous experience in the use of manual laith and cylindrical grinding is preferred

Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of machine tools
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Proficiency in CNC machine set-up and operation
• Skilled in using measuring instruments
• Experience operating fluting and grinding machines is a plus

Hours & Salary:

• Monday/Thursday - 7:30am-4:00pm
• Friday - 7:30am-3:00pm
• 37.5 hours per week
• Salary range: £29,000 - £31,000 per annum

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a similar role
• Mechanical expertise and knowledge of machine tools
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Ability to operate CNC machines and use measuring instruments
• Experience with fluting and grinding machines is a plus
