MANE are currently recruiting for a CNC Machinist for our Aerospace client based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Job Title: CNC Operator (5-Axis CNC Machine)

Role Overview:

The CNC Operator is responsible for operating a 5-axis CNC machine, contributing to the manufacturing of composite parts. Collaborating closely with the Production Manager, CNC Programmer, and the broader production team, the CNC Operator ensures high-quality outputs and efficient workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain a 5-axis CNC routing machine.
  • Track tool usage and manage tool inventory requirements.
  • Perform quality inspections using micrometers, Vernier calipers, and gauges.
  • Coordinate with the Production Manager to optimise workflow and productivity.
  • Load and secure tooling and parts for machining.
  • Prioritise and manage workloads to meet production schedules.
  • Work with the CAM Programmer to enhance processes and improve manufacturability.
  • Support the introduction of new products in collaboration with the manufacturing department.
  • Undertake additional CNC operating tasks as required.
  • Attend team meetings, 1:1 sessions, and fulfill reporting obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Foster positive working relationships across all departments.
  • Contribute to building a company culture aligned with ATL's values and guiding principles.
Person Specification:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • At least 3 years of experience operating a CNC machine.
  • Proven experience machining composite materials.
  • Proficient in checking parts against technical drawings to ensure tolerance compliance.
  • Familiarity with running CAM programs.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Self-motivated and capable of performing under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience using CAD/CAM software.
  • Familiarity with CMS 5-axis routers.
