Sliding Head CNC Setter Vacancy

If you can bring at least 2 years sliding head experience and a desire to progress, we can provide a growing company with new equipment, fantastic facilities and great atmosphere. Why wouldn’t you apply?

In 2023 we bought our first sliding head machine, a Star SR32J III Type B, and this was followed with a Star SB20 Type G in 2024 – and we are now looking to add to our team of people to run them. Initially these machines will be your focus, but in time we will train you on our Nakamura lathes (all bought since 2021). We fully expect further machine investments over the coming 18 months.

We have a workforce made up of apprentices and experienced time served engineers – 26 in total. The business has tripled in size since 2020 and intends to continue that growth whilst retaining that family feel which makes it a positive place to work. As a patron of Blackburn with Darwen Youth Zone, we take part in a number of events during the year which support the community, but also add to the forward thinking nature of the Company.

The role is shift based, double days Monday to Friday. 6am start on early shift, 1030pm finish on the late shift but with an early finish on Friday at 7pm for the late shift.

You will need to have had at least 2 years experience on a sliding head machine. Perhaps you are frustrated by the lack of training in your current role – we can help there as we aim to train all our team to set the machines from scratch. Perhaps you are making the same parts all day every day – again we can help as we have a wide variety of products and materials that will broaden your skills and keep you interested. Perhaps the atmosphere and expectations at work are frustrating – we have a great team and story to tell, just watch our video on you tube to get a feel for what we offer. The role requires the following key attributes:

* Good basic maths – you should have passed GCSE or equivalent Maths to grade 4

* Accuracy and attention to detail, typical tolerances are ± 0.0125mm

* Ability to inspect work to dwg

* Pride in quality of work, rather than volume of work

* Team player, willing to take and offer help and advice

Overtime is available. There are 26 days holiday per year, a company sick pay scheme, and all other standard benefits.

Pay would depend on your current skill and experience level, and whether you are time served or not. Pay, including shift premium, would range from £28K to £38K per year. We want the best, will train you to the highest standard and develop your skills on other machines.

Please apply with a CV and confirm your current pay and why you want to move. We will reply to every application. Good luck
