About the Opportunity

  • The Bulk Inspection Services team provide a document and in-house surveillance service for the supply of large volume bulk materials and complex engineering equipment for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) Nuclear New Build projects.
  • A Coatings Subject Matter Expert is required to work closely with Contractors and Engineering teams to review design packages prior to the start of manufacture and to provide specialist expertise to support Suppliers in meeting the requirements of the Technical Specifications.
  • There is a requirement to assist the implementation of HPC & SZC project sourcing strategies by conducting in-depth technical assessments of supplier coatings operations to confirm capabilities and identify any gaps that may require further Coating specialist support.
  • The Coating SME will also perform routine witnessing and surveillance of Supplier Coating arrangements during manufacture prior to product release.
  • The SME is the go-to person for all matters relating to Coatings and their application and provides support to the wider team on complex technical issues.

Here's What You'll Need

  • Preferably Professional member of the Institute of Corrosion
  • Qualification in an Engineering discipline, Degree/ HNC / HND, (or lower if combined with experience gained in complex plant or related industry).
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Coatings Inspector in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of working to UK and international standards and codes of practice for the UK Nuclear sector.
  • Holds either CSWIP BGAS Level 3 or NACE level 1 or ICORR level 1 (L2 considered with relevant leadership experience)
  • ICORR Hot Dipped Galvanising Level 2 preferred
  • Be able to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders and develop professional relationships with suppliers.
  • Demonstrate resilience in a challenging environment.
