Job Title: Commercial Manager - Rail (Mechanical & Electrical)
Location: London, UK (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days remote)

Job Description:
Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Manager with a strong background in the rail industry, specifically in mechanical and electrical disciplines. The successful candidate will be based in London and will play a crucial role in managing the commercial aspects of our projects. This role offers a hybrid working model, with three days a week in the office and the remainder remote.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Management:
- Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and management of contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Manage contract variations and resolve disputes effectively.
Financial Oversight:
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Monitor project costs and implement cost control measures.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making.
Tendering and Procurement:
- Lead the tendering process, including the preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and selection of contractors.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure procurement activities are conducted in line with company policies and best practices.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess commercial risks associated with projects.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for commercial issues.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management.
Project Management Support:
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure commercial objectives are aligned with project goals.
- Support the delivery of projects on time and within budget.
- Provide commercial advice and guidance to project teams.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of commercial professionals.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Ensure the team adheres to best practices and company policies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIPS) is preferred.
- Extensive experience in commercial management within the rail industry, with a focus on mechanical and electrical projects.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale projects and complex contracts.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid working environment.
