About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Engineer with an SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification to join a team working on clean water works refurbishment projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong MEICA background with process engineering expertise, although direct water sector experience is not mandatory.
Candidates with experience in sectors like offshore, industrial, or other process-driven environments are welcome, provided they do not come from purely IT/software engineering backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning activities, including functional and process testing, system start-up, and troubleshooting.
Develop and implement commissioning plans, testing schedules, and operational protocols.
Conduct inspections and testing of mechanical, electrical, and control systems to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, and site teams to deliver projects on time.
Ensure all work adheres to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Prepare commissioning reports, operation and maintenance (O&M) documentation, and client handover materials.
Provide training to site operators on the commissioned equipment and systems.
Skills and Experience Required:
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of process engineering principles, instrumentation, electrical systems, and control automation.
Proficiency in interpreting engineering documentation (e.g., P&ID, electrical schematics).
Experience with process controls, PLCs, SCADA systems, and commissioning tools.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including ISO9001 and British standards.
Sector Expertise:
Proven experience commissioning systems in process-driven environments such as industrial water treatment, offshore platforms, or power plants.
Knowledge of water treatment processes (e.g., reverse osmosis, filtration systems) is advantageous but not essential.
Core Competencies:
Problem-solving and troubleshooting in live operational environments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Ability to create and maintain detailed technical documentation.
Adaptability to travel frequently to project sites across the UK.
Health & Safety:
SMSTS card holder and a strong understanding of site safety management.
Experience conducting risk assessments and ensuring site safety compliance.
