The Austrian Alpine Club UK is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our office team to maintain, have creative input, and optimise the clubs website and social media presence. The role combines the responsibilities of a website and social media manager, a communications specialist, and a digital skills liaison.
About AAC(UK): The Austrian Alpine Club (UK) is the British Section of the sterreichischer Alpenverein (AV). The AAC(UK) is one of the largest mountaineering clubs in the UK with over 18,000 UK and overseas members. The Alpenverein is the largest mountaineering club in Austria, with 196 Sections and has over 725,000 members.
The aims of the Club are: To promote and support mountaineering, alpine sports and walking, and to encourage participation in activities offered to Members. To maintain the beauty and unspoiled character of the mountain landscape. To protect nature and the environment and tostrengthen ties between the Club Members and Austria and the Austrian people.

Key responsibilities include:
With support form the comms team,ensure our online presence including website, social media, email marketing and digital advertising reflects the clubs strategic goals.
Maintain and have creative input into the clubs website, (system: weblication).
Maintain and update the website activity programme.
Prepare monthly e-news in line with communications team requirements.
Collaborate with club volunteers to design and distribute emails using their Content Management System, Weblication
Develop, schedule, and maintain engaging social media content.
Utilise social media management tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Linktr.ee), and graphic design software (e.g., Canva.com)
Ensure consistent messaging across various channels to promote club updates, activities or services. (using Monday.com)
Respond to comments, messages, and engage with followers on social media.
Manage social media accounts, monitor trends, and stay up to date with platform best practices.
Act as the intermediary between the clubs IT provider and the specific needs of the club.
Onboarding new team members and volunteers and providing appropriate access to club systems such as SharePoint.
Have good working knowledge of the clubs membership system and membership benefits.
Assist with membership processing and field membership enquiries during peak times.

Key skills and experience:
Proficiency in Communication Tools and Platforms; familiarity with website platforms (e.g., WordPress), CMS management, social media management tools.
Have excellent digital skillsto support Club volunteers an liaise with IT provider.
Competent use of Microsoft Office applications e.g. Outlook, Word and Excel
Strong Communication Skills:strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Copywriting and Editing:proficiency in writing and editing various types of content. Previous experience using assistive tools such as Grammarly or immersive reader is useful.
Strategic Thinking:understand the various facets of the Club and the overall communication strategy, and how their role fits intoit.
Project Management:manage projects, timelines, and budgets (where applicable). Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Interpersonal Skills:ability to build relationships with colleagues, members, and volunteers, and understand the User Experience (UX).
Adaptability:adapt to changing environments and communication needs.
Content Creation & Updates:develop, schedule, and maintain engaging website and social media content.
Possess the ability to work to deadlines, while producing high-quality accurate work
(Desirable) knowledge of the German language
(Desirable) An interest in outdoor activities in the UK and abroad
