The Opportunity

A great opportunity has arisen for a Community Safety Officer to join the Housing Services department, working as part of a busy team, based in the community and travelling around the borough. This post is essential to support the operational elements of Community Safety, such as responding to private and business complaints of anti-social behaviour.

Accountabilities

  • To respond to reports of private and business anti-social behaviour/nuisance at an operational level
  • Manage cases concerning anti-social behaviour:
  • Carrying out investigations
  • Gathering evidence
  • Initiating enforcement/legal remedies
  • Attending court where required
  • Work with Housing and Policing partners to coordinate enforcement actions
  • Supporting the work of the Community Safety Manager
  • Attending Partnership meetings where appropriate

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Conflict Management - dealing with neighbour disputes/disputes between various parties
  • Personal Resilience - risk of verbal abuse/bad language/ability to enforce powers
  • Communication skills
  • Negotiation skills - ability to help parties reach compromises
  • Knowledge of ASB Crime and Policing Act 2014 legislation
  • Experience in use of ASB Crime and Policing Act 2014 powers
  • Knowledge of safeguarding processes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work outside normal hours
  • Enhanced DBS requirement
