Component Engineer (Electronics)
Remote - or based out of Buckinghamshire/Dorchester/West London
Our client has an exciting opportunity for a full-time or part-time Component Engineer(s) to support the electronics and mechanical engineering teams across their Loudwater, Greenford, and Weymouth sites in the UK. This role can be office-based or remote, with occasional travel to the sites.
You will be working on Naval projects in this role.
Key Responsibilities as a Component Engineer:
- Support Electronic and Mechanical functions in component activities:
- Identify and mitigate obsolescence issues.
- Manage the ERP database and support its engineering users.
- Ensure compliance with engineering processes and procedures.
- Assist in component selection to meet customer requirements and standards.
- Stay current with legislation and ensure compliance.
- Provide planning and estimation input to Project Managers.
- Update processes and procedures as legislation or cost/time improvements are identified.
- Support other departments in resolving qualification, compliance, and safety issues.
- Conduct component risk identification and mitigation activities.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers.
- Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers.
- Demonstrate teamwork experience.
Skills and Experience:
- HNC/HND or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Mechanical or a relevant subject.
- Knowledge of component legislation and materials safety standards.
- Experience in the product lifecycle within defence or aviation (Desired)
- Familiarity with Component Engineering best practices, methodologies, processes, and tools.
- Experience with PMRP tools (IFS desirable) and/or SQL databases.
Personal Attributes:
- Self-motivated, adaptable, proactive, and diligent with good interpersonal skills.
- Limited travel to sites may be required (typically less than once a month).
- Eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.
