Composite Mould Prep / Patternmaker Overview: Composite Mould prep / Master Patternmaker is vital in industries where complex and high-precision parts are necessary. By creating accurate master patterns and preparing moulds, they ensure that the final products meet exact specifications and high-quality standards. This role helps streamline production processes, reduce material waste, and improve the overall efficiency of manufacturing operations. Responsibilities Design and Development: Create master patterns and moulds for composite materials. Work with engineers and designers to develop prototypes and production patterns. Interpret technical drawings, and CAD models to ensure patterns meet specifications. Pattern Making: Construct patterns using various materials like wood, metal, and foam. Utilise advanced tools and machinery, such as CNC machines, lathes, and milling machines, to produce high-precision patterns. Ensure patterns are accurate and meet dimensional and tolerance requirements. Composite Materials Expertise: Understand the properties of different composite materials. Select appropriate materials for pattern making, considering factors such as durability, strength, and temperature resistance. Quality Control: Inspect and verify the accuracy of patterns. Identify and correct any defects or inconsistencies in the patterns. Ensure that patterns conform to industry standards and client specifications. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other departments, including engineering, design, and production, to ensure seamless integration of patterns into the manufacturing process. Communicate effectively with team members and clients to understand requirements and provide updates on progress. Maintenance and Upkeep: Maintain and repair patterns as needed. Keep tools and equipment in good working condition. Document pattern modifications and maintain records of pattern designs and revisions. Prep Work: Prepare moulds for production. Perform sanding, filling, and smoothing of surfaces to achieve the desired finish. Apply primers and protective coatings as necessary. Skills and Qualifications Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings. Skilled in using hand tools and machinery for pattern making. Attention to Detail: High level of precision and accuracy in pattern making. Ability to identify and correct minute defects. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address issues that arise during the pattern making process. Physical Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling tools and materials. Experience and Education: Background in Car body prep, Joinery, manufacturing, or a related field. Apprenticeships or technical training in pattern making are often beneficial.
