Are you an experienced CDM professional with a passion for delivering large-scale construction projects to the highest safety standards? Hinkley Point C, the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over two decades, is seeking a CDM Technical Coordinator to join the Principal Contractor team.

This is a rare opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's most ambitious energy projects, ensuring compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM). You'll play a critical role in maintaining the safety and technical integrity of one of the largest civil engineering projects in Europe, which will generate low-carbon electricity for 6 million homes.

Principal Accountabilities

  • CDM Oversight: Ensure Principal Contractor compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, overseeing construction work packs six months prior to execution.
  • Safety Collaboration: Liaise with the Client and Principal Designer on construction safety matters, ensuring adherence to legal and project-specific safety standards.
  • Programme Management: Manage the Principal Contractor's CDM compliance programme, supporting delivery functions, including Temporary Works, Marine Works, Site Operations, and more.
  • Technical Assurance: Conduct reviews and acceptance of contractor safety-related documents, including Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), procedures, and standards.
  • Training Delivery: Develop and deliver CDM-related training materials for site personnel, ensuring continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Provide expert CDM guidance to the Principal Contractor and represent the team at NEC risk reduction events.
  • Risk Profiling: Advise delivery teams on site-specific risks, ensuring they are managed effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contractor Mobilisation: Oversee Tier 1 contractor mobilisation and ensure compliance with safety standards from day one.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Chartered Membership with CIOB, ICE, or IMechE.
  • Technical Membership of IOSH and a Member of the Association for Project Safety.
  • Strong understanding of design and engineering hazard reviews and risk assessments.
  • Experience applying the Principles of Prevention during both pre-construction and construction phases.
  • Knowledge of heavy civil engineering, bulk mechanical erection, and the application of CDM to NEC & FIDIC contracts.
  • Ability to work in a multinational, multi-disciplinary environment managing multiple work scopes simultaneously.
