This fulltime post provides consultant care for a women's Psychiatric Inpatient Care Unit (PICU) ward based at the Tower Hamlets Centre for Mental Health (THcMH). The successful candidate will work on the 13-bedded PICU ward for 8 female ELFT patients from across the boroughs of Newham, Tower Hamlets and City & Hackney, and 5 beds allocated for non-trust patients. In addition, this post will have direct clinical oversight of the well-established ELFT Court Liaison Diversion service as the consultant lead.
The 1.0 Whole Time Equivalent (WTE) job plan will be developed to meet the needs of the service and is envisaged to include 7.5 PAs for direct clinical care (DCC) and 2.5 PAs for supporting programmed activities (SPA). This would include assessing patients, devising management plans, and providing clinical leadership. The post holder will also provide cross-cover to the other Consultants in the team.
The post-holder will provide consultant clinical leadership to the service and will assume consultant psychiatrist responsibility for patients. This includes assuming Responsible Clinician status for detained patients. They will participate, directly and indirectly, in the assessment of patients referred to the service and in drawing up care plans which will address the patients' psychiatric, physical and social needs. When a review of the care plan is indicated, the carer and any other professionals involved will participate in reviews.
The post-holder will forge good working relationships with other psychiatrists in the service in order to encourage appropriate referrals to the service and to assure a cooperative approach to the care of patients.
