Whether it's taking a report of a missing person, responding to a burglary or supporting someone in need our Contact Centre Officers play a crucial role in helping keep our communities safe, identifying and protecting the most vulnerable. Receiving and critically assessing all types of contact including 999, 101 telephone calls, as well as other types of contact online or in person, you'll ask the right questions, listen for vital details and record information. You'll be playing an integral role in making sure that our police officers are in the right place at the right time, all whilst maintaining high levels of customer service, managing customer expectations, and meeting national and organisational service level agreements. Being a contact handler is certainly not your typical nine-to five no two calls are the same. Working in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment, being a Contact Centre Officer is a demanding role where you need to be patient and comfortable working under pressure while problem-solving. You'll receive an extensive 8-12 week training course upon starting (after starting please note extended periods of annual leave are prohibited during initial training) with us as well as supported with a 13 week tutorship giving you the knowledge and skills you will need for the role. To apply you'll need: GCSE in English at grade C or above, or equivalent qualification. excellent verbal and written communications skills ability to deal assertively but courteously with all enquires whilst managing contact expectations the ability to learn and use a variety of computer-based systems. Previous experience of working within a call centre or customer service environment would be beneficial. Our Contact Centre Officer roles are offered on a full time basis (average of 37 hours per week), working a rotating shift pattern of 6 on 4 off (2 early's, 2 lates and 2 nights), covering a 24 hour period 7 days a week, based in our contact centre at Essex Police headquarters in Chelmsford.
