About the Role: This position is part of our Content and Licensing department, dedicated to discovering content that will connect our community to their past. The teams are responsible for the identification and acquisition of new historical records and newspapers, the digitisation and transcription of historical material, and the publication of millions of records to Findmypast and the British Newspaper Archive every year. Findmypast works with partners in the UK and Ireland and around the world. We are known for excellence in content and digtisation. This role will be reporting to the Head of Aquisition.You will play a crucial role in identifying and acquiring historical content. You'll also be responsible for fostering relationships with licensing partners. Become part of a team that values preservation and connecting individuals to their past. Here’s what the role involves:Identifying and approaching potential licensors with archival holdings of interest to secure new content opportunities.Researching archival collections to source new content opportunities that align with our strategic goals.Developing pitches and coordinating negotiations to secure new partnerships, ensuring alignment with business objectives.Aligning priorities and objectives with other licensing team experts ensuring cohesive content acquisition strategies. Participate in regular team meetings to discuss progress, share insights, and refine acquisition strategies, fostering a collaborative team environment.Collaborating across departments such as brand and product, to acquire content that supports our strategic business priorities and to align marketing and promotional activities.Attending licensor supplier days to nurture partnerships with archives and institutions across Britain and Ireland to strengthen our network and collaboration.Providing support and troubleshooting issues with licensing partners ensure smooth communication regarding release dates, maintaining a seamless partnership experience.Appraising archival collections for digitisation suitability and audience interest, ensuring high-value content acquisition.Scoping and Sizing Projects: Scope and size archival digitisation projects alongside the Content Operations teams to ensure accurate project planning and execution.Presenting Project Progress: Present progress on digitisation projects to stakeholders, keeping them informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.Writing and publishing contextual content about historical records to enhance user engagement and understanding.Creating and giving presentations featuring historical records for a range of audiences, showcasing the value and significance of our collections.Industry analysis and reporting on industry trends to inform content acquisition strategy, ensuring our offerings remain relevant and competitive.Mentoring and supporting others to deliver efficient, high-quality implementation at a project level and on your own tasks About you:Do you have...?Knowledge of cataloguing, metadata, and information organisation.Understanding of historical research methods and digitisation of primary sources.Skill in writing and presenting content for diverse audiences.A willingness to travel to archives or libraries across Britain.A commitment to quality in service delivery.Knowledge and experience with British and Irish history or genealogy.Can you…?Bring strong communication skills and a love of working in a team Be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of a growing, global business.Foster and maintain close relationships with partners and ensure smooth communication.Skills in managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.Developing and nurturing complex relationships with colleagues and partners.Work independently.If you said yes to these, and this all sounds appealing, then get in touch.
