The basics:

Job Title: Continuous Improvement Engineer - Process and Continuous improvement department.

Location: Port Talbot

Environment: Manufacturing/Production

Role: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday (8.30am to 4.30pm)

Pay: �36,280 to �41,280 DOE

Holidays: 33 days, 10% employer contribution pension, annual company bonus up to 10% of gross salary, quarterly bonus, life cover x3 of salary.

Benefits: Death in service x3 of salary, Pension.

Overview:

The Continuous Improvement Engineer will help identify process improvements that will reduce costs, improve plant availability, increase productivity / performance.

The initial and first project will be to look at the SMED process - with training given, you will be tasked to reduce change over times.

In the first 6 months you would look to review what the issues are with change overs. An element of being "hands on" in terms of doing the changeover process for yourself will be required - you must be competent with hand held tools - spanner/ratchets etc. This is NOT a hand on role BUT has an small element in order to be able to understand the issues.

The company have sites across the globe and therefore approximately 2 weeks at one of the plants in Belgium will be required to see how they have implemented their SMED project so that you can bring back the learnings and ideas to your dedicated site.

This role will suit a process and continuous improvement mindset - how can we do things better.

The ideal candidate / Continuous Improvement Engineer may have some of the following, however, please note these are only desirable and not essential as all applications will be looked at individually:

  • Previous experience working in a continuous improvements focused role within a automated production/manufacturing environment or similar.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with production staff and other departments across the site.
  • Any Lean manufacturing focused qualifications advantageous
