Contracts Specialist required, annual salary is £45k-£50k DOE, plus excellent benefits Full Time, Permanent based on site in Plymouth, Devon. This will be working Monday to Friday full time.

Due to exciting growth, Wise Employment are seeking a Contracts Specialistfor a world-renowned manufacturer who pride themselves on pushing the boundaries of innovation and foster a culture of excellence and collaboration.

You will be responsible for ensuring minimal indirect spend and inventory along with best on time delivery for indirect goods and services are achieved.  You will be required to secure the best value for money versus service deals for the company.

Key role requirements as a Contracts Specialist:


  • You will need to have competitive bids, coming from electronic purchase requisitions from other teams or from the capital expenditure form
  • You will need to negotiate, develop and manage meaningful contracts with suppliers to ensure best total price and also service levels
  • To coordinate the on-site integrated supplier by managing the on-site team, monitor service levels and cost saving initiatives.
  • To identify any cost savings opportunities on the indirect expenditure and action them accordingly whilst also leading projects from start to finish, ensuring all stakeholders are involved
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key indirect suppliers
  • Identify potential dual sourcing and new suppliers
  • Seek opportunities to reduce indirect inventory and implement effective actions to achieve these reductions.
  • Identify potential risks in contracts and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:


  • A Degree (or higher) in Business, Supply Chain Management, Law or similar related field is essential
  • CIPS level 5 or higher would be advantageous
  • Experience in indirect procurement within a manufacturing environment is essential
  • Skilled in drafting and negotiating contracts
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional projects
  • Strong commercial acumen and confident in capital expenditure budgeting and approval procedures
  • Proficient with SAP and Excel
  • An analytical mindset and strong negotiation skills
  • Assertive communication skills in both written and verbal
