Controls Engineer.
Nuneaton.
£55,000 - £60,000 per annum DOE.
Day Shifts.

Our client is expanding their team at their site in Nuneaton and are looking for a Controls Engineer. This role is key in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of their manufacturing processes as they continue to grow.

What the Controls Engineer will do:

    \n
  • You'll be the go-to expert for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues on control systems on site, minimising downtime and ensuring smooth operations.
  • \n
  • Take charge of developing and executing maintenance schedules for PLCs, HMIs, and other automation hardware, keeping everything running at peak performance.
  • \n
  • Work with Siemens, Omron, and Allen-Bradley PLC systems to enhance and modify control programs to meet ever evolving production needs.
  • \n
  • Spearhead system upgrades and process improvements, driving the implementation of new technologies to keep ahead of the curve.
  • \n
  • Lead engineering projects that improve site operations, efficiency, and sustainability, collaborating across teams to make it happen.
  • \n
  • Ensure our control systems meet the highest safety standards, maintaining detailed records and adhering to regulations.

What we look for in the Controls Engineer:

    \n
  • Ideally qualified to HNC level. You’ll also have an electrical competency certification (BS7671) and UK Electrical Test & Inspection qualifications.
  • \n
  • Proven experience in Controls Engineering, particularly with Siemens, Omron, and Allen-Bradley PLCs in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • \n
  • You’ll need to be proficient in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Familiarity with industrial networks and protocols (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus) is essential.
  • \n
  • You’ll need to be a quick thinker, identifying and solving problems proactively to keep operations running smoothly.
  • \n
  • Experience with SCADA systems, HMI development, robotics, motion control, and advanced automation tech.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of safety systems (SIL, ISO 13849) and certifications in specific PLC platforms.
