Our client is looking for an Electrical & Instrument Engineer for a 12 month contract position, located in Aberdeen.

ROLE:

The primary function of this position is to provide Controls and Instrument technical support for Operated Assets to deliver in year performance of C&I equipment and address future threats posed by equipment reliability and obsolescence.

Working in parallel with the asset C&I engineers, the position will focus on effective management of activities utilising vendor resources for routine maintenance and collaborate with the Facilities Engineering Function to deliver longer term reliability improvements. The position will be the SME for the relevant FMECA based maintenance strategies, responsible for continuous review and improvement based on observed equipment performance as well as carrying out RCAs into equipment failures to prevent re-occurrence.

Acting as contract demand manager for the controls and instrument related maintenance contracts, this position is responsible for proactively managing support contracts to deliver efficient and effective maintenance delivery across the assets. This includes development of accurate scopes of work, tender evaluation criteria and performance management KPIs

This position would suit experienced individuals who poses a strong maintenance support background within an operating environment with broader systems engineering experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Improve Asset Equipment Availability and Reliability using current RCM techniques within the C&I discipline & act as Subject Matter Expert during RCA.
  • Be responsible for delivering technical support for Field Instrumentation, ICSS, Telecoms and F&G. Apply professional knowledge to problems and provide guidance to offshore operations.
  • Address “replacement in kind” System and Field instrument obsolescence as per company MOC procedure
  • Act as discipline engineer responsible for delivering technical support for Small Bore Tubing (SBT) in accordance with the company SBT Standard
  • Be the technical owner of Business-Critical equipment maintenance strategies relating to function & be responsible for proactive review and improvement activity to enhance equipment performance
  • Be responsible for the identification and implementation of risk mitigations for deferred maintenance activity (Preventative & Corrective maintenance classified as business and safety critical)
  • Act as a C&I focal point to identify, prioritise, plan and execute all reliability improvement scopes both from a maintenance management (i.e. strategic) and a technical (i.e. EMOC initiation) stand point – and ensure cross functional delivery of improvements to agreed timebound plans.
  • Manage key vendors to produce results through effective supervision, planning and allocation of work. Undertake the role of Job Responsible Engineer (JRE) in accordance with corporate policy and demonstrate behaviours in line with company values at all times.
  • Fulfil the role of Contract Demand manager for assigned areas, focussing on driving vendor performance through the development and implementation of Key Performance Indicators.
  • Be accountable for identifying budget requirements for areas of responsibility and manage execution of those scopes within approved budgets.

  • Maintain frequent communications with the technical authorities on areas of concern to leverage all company knowledge to achieve the company key results
  • Work collaboratively and demonstrate willingness and ability to engage with others to achieve key results.
  • Have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a flexible team environment.
  • Be proficient in SAP CMMS for managing work and reviewing maintenance plans
  • Undertake offshore visits to ensure the delivery of key scopes and provide support to the assets.
  • Consistently apply sound engineering principles and perform work in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Review and evaluate recommendations and actions proposed by others. Instruct, guide and train lesser-experienced professionals in development of innovative options.

REQUIREMENTS


  • Experience in use of standards (e.g. IEC61511, IEC62443 and BS EN60079); instrument and general engineering specifications & datasheets; design calculation, e.g. I.S. calculations; control systems design requirements; understanding of engineering diagrams, e.g. P&ID’s, loop diagrams, pneumatics hook ups, termination drawings.
  • Significant technical knowledge with Field Instrumentation, ICSS, Telecoms and F&G within the oil and gas industry environment.
  • You will have previous Systems Engineering experience and broad practical field instrument experience.
  • Significant experience in using a CMMS (preferably SAP)

At a minimum, you have:


  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
  • Functional Safety Engineer Certification preferred but not essential
