Location: North West (Manchester, Warrington, or Lancashire)
Salary: Up to £46,000 + Comprehensive Benefits Package


A leading water supplier in the North West region is seeking a skilled Cost Engineer to join its team. This role is ideal for professionals with backgrounds in project management, quantity surveying, or accounting who are ready to make a significant contribution to impactful projects.
The successful candidate will work in a collaborative and supportive team environment, engaging with multiple areas of the business and managing costs and forecasts across a variety of projects.
Role Responsibilities
The Cost Engineer will take a leading role in cost management, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and effectively. Key responsibilities include:
·Collaborating with discipline leads, such as risk, planning, and controls, to optimise project execution.
·Maintaining cost and budget management processes aligned with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Organisational Breakdown Structure (OBS).
·Supporting delivery teams in cost control and managing commitments, journals, and accruals in collaboration with Project Managers.
·Analysing the impact of trends and implementing agreed changes to the project baseline.
·Conducting Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting and reviewing metrics to analyse performance trends.
·Preparing and maintaining cost forecasts and reporting against project baselines.
Skills and Experience
Candidates should demonstrate the following qualifications and abilities:
·A degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
·Proven expertise in cost management, project controls, or programme delivery.
·Strong understanding of cost management techniques and proficiency with cost management systems.
·Exceptional financial awareness and ability to manage and interpret large data sets.
·Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all organisational levels and positively challenge stakeholders when necessary.
·A proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to embrace change and propose solutions.
Desirable Qualifications:
·MAPM/ACostE or equivalent qualifications in Project Management or Project Controls are advantageous but not essential.
