Job Overview :
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join this dynamic secondary school team in Crawley. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain on task with the pre-set work and maintaining a productive and orderly learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver pre-planned lessons and maintain an orderly and focused environment in the absence of the class teacher.
Motivate and support students, ensuring they understand and complete the set work to the best of their ability.
Manage student behaviour in accordance with school policies, ensuring a positive learning atmosphere.
Provide assistance to students where necessary, addressing queries and clarifying instructions.
Report any issues, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate member of staff, Head cover manager.
Ensure that classrooms are ready for lessons and that resources are returned or stored appropriately at the end of the session.
Work closely with teaching staff and other colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to student learning and well-being.
Complete any administrative tasks related to the cover lessons, such as taking attendance and submitting reports.
Qualifications and Experience:
Previous experience in a school setting or working with young people is desirable but not essential.
A relevant qualification or degree is advantageous.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage behaviour effectively and remain calm under pressure.
