We are looking for a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our team at an independent special needs school on the Wirral. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to support students in a nurturing environment, helping them reengage with their education, build confidence, and develop vital life skills.

About the School:

This small provision caters for young people aged 11-14 who have faced disruptions in their education. The school's focus is on rebuilding students' confidence and self-esteem through a multi-agency approach, combining academic support with emotional and therapeutic development.

With a capacity for 32 students (currently 12 on roll), the school offers small class sizes (3-5 pupils) and a high staff-to-student ratio. Students also participate in enriching activities like horse riding, team-building, and vocational training in beauty and hairdressing, gaining life skills alongside their academic learning.

Your Role as a Cover Supervisor:

• Supervise and manage classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students remain on task and engage in their learning.
• Provide support to students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, helping them stay focused and participate in lessons.
• Encourage positive behaviour and support the development of students' emotional and social skills.
• Assist in the delivery of lessons and activities as directed by the class teacher, ensuring that learning objectives are met.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment.
• Assist students with vocational activities and life skills lessons as needed.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational or support role.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and organisational skills.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to support students with additional needs.
• Confidence in supervising small groups of students and helping them stay focused.
• A proactive attitude and flexibility to adapt to different learning environments.
