Newcastle College, in partnership with The Supply Register, is seeking a Curriculum Leader – Health (Higher Education) to drive excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and learner success.

About the Role


As Curriculum Leader – Health (Higher Education), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success and quality of health-related higher education programs. Reporting to the Head of Curriculum, you will be responsible for leading a team of lecturers, overseeing curriculum design, and ensuring that students receive a high-quality learning experience that meets industry standards and local needs.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Provide leadership and support to the Head of Curriculum to align department performance with key college objectives.


  • Manage and develop a team of lecturers and other direct reports to ensure outstanding teaching and learning.


  • Oversee curriculum planning, development, and delivery to ensure a high standard of learner experience.


  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators, ensuring continuous development and enhancement.


  • Implement industry-relevant courses that align with quality, finance, and health & safety requirements.


  • Act as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders to develop strong partnerships.


  • Contribute to recruitment, staff development, and performance management.


  • Support the Head of Curriculum as needed.


  • Promote and uphold Newcastle College’s core values and behaviours.


Essential Skills & Qualifications:




  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant health-related subject.


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).


  • Experience in effective people and performance management.


  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.


  • Knowledge of curriculum design, learning technologies, and student progression strategies.


  • Ability to deliver high-quality teaching that meets or exceeds a Grade 2 standard.


  • Understanding of national and regional education policies related to health and higher education.


  • Experience in managing change and implementing new initiatives.


Desirable:




  • Management qualification or leadership experience in an educational setting.


  • Knowledge of Ofsted and HE Quality Code requirements for learner success and progression.
