Cyber Security Researcher - Contract - Inside IR35 - Newport - SC Clearance Required - �40 per hour - 6 Month contract
Overview of the role:
To undertake cutting edge digital security research and innovation activities with the ultimate goal of developing solutions to the business' problems for which a solution doesn't currently exist. Further, to build and maintain awareness and knowledge of best-practice technology trends and commercially available digital security solutions.
Responsibilities:
Collaboration: Collaborate in cyber security innovation activities, with internal and external peers. Provide expert consultation services on the specialist cyber security subject.
Coordination: Support cyber security innovation coordination across the business to maximise alignment, to include knowledge transfer in various forms. Build and maintain working network among subject matter peers and stakeholders. Undertake internal & external engagements on behalf of the digital security office.
Innovation: Deliver innovation projects to cost, quality and time constraints. Deliver activity reports and presentations to cost, quality and time constraints. Build and maintain a research network to support the specialist cyber security subject.
Main activities
Collaboration:
Support external digital security innovation agreements, collaborations and partnerships with specialist subject expertise and industrial / context-of-use guidance.
Provide expert services (consultancy) to the internal business on the specialist cyber subject, and as required.
Coordination:
Provide significant contributions to the transition of innovation knowledge and technologies into the business and digital security operations, including trainings, presentations and reports.
Represent Client's digital security at global conferences and events.
Innovation:
Undertake state of the art research projects into digital security topics of interest in support of the business, in partnership with the other members of the Cyber Security Innovation team.
Undertake best-practice horizon scanning, and market awareness.
Develop prototype solutions.
Publish academic articles, technical reports, white papers and patents.
Outputs
Innovation Solutions:
Physical prototypes, software, configurations, technical reports, expertise. Provide. horizon scan / market study technical reports
Generate research proposals, alone, with team members and external network. Good knowledge of external research funding opportunities.

Additional information
This jobholder will be required to attend frequent business meetings, events and conferences across Europe (particularly the UK, France and Germany), and must be able to travel accordingly (up to 25%).
Organisation structure
The jobholder will fit into the Cyber Security Innovation team, reporting to the Head of Digital Security Innovation. The team belongs to the Corporate Digital Security Office, led by the Chief Digital Security Officer (CISO).
