For further information about Nomura, visit www.nomura.com Department overview The Chief Data Office (CDO) plays a key role in defining and implementing the firm's data strategy, driving transformational change through data capabilities, enforcing data governance for both transformation benefit and regulatory compliance, and elevating Nomura's data culture. It is the central authority overseeing and supporting the Business and Corporate functions in adopting enterprise data tools, and establishing and performing operational data management. In addition to the above mandate, CDO plays an active role in the definition, management and oversight of the company-wide Artificial Intelligence (AI) Framework, on behalf of the Chief Information Officer (CIO). Role description The role holder will be responsible for the following: Implement federated data management framework requirements, including enterprise conceptual / logical / physical data model updates, metadata management, data quality management, data stewardship operating model Implement improvements and enhancements to enterprise data management framework and data capabilities, especially automation and digitalisation opportunities Support broader adoption and operationalisation of enterprise data tools, such as metadata management, data quality management, Cloud enterprise analytics data warehouse Lead the cross-functional framework origination (Policy, Standard and Guidelines) supporting the continuous embedding of the data management framework e.g., cross-border data transfer Drive the CDO assessment process for new Cloud computing technology initiative including the coordination of the transition to the Cloud Office in 2026H1 Prepare and update project and associated data management artefacts Knowledge and Skills Requirements: Robust data literacy including metadata management, data governance (e.g., quality), core data roles (e.g., stewards), knowledge of layered architecture of a data platform (sources, integration, processing, storage, analytics, visualization) Experience in the use of associated technologies (data catalog, data quality management platforms) Strong experience in capital markets including insights into core functions, products, processes, and regulations ideally acquired in a Data Office or Technology role in BAU, Change or Remediation Knowledge of Cloud-based big data frameworks such as data lake, relational, Graph and other no-SQL databases Strong risk and control mindset with direct experience acquired in prior role e.g., Cloud, Data, or Technology controls Robust business process design skills technical writing, techniques and artefacts (e.g., RACI) Robust knowledge of the project lifecycle, techniques and methodologies and artefacts Excellent communication (verbal, written, listening), inter-personal and influencing skills, with the ability to bridge SMEs and business through user-friendly language Able to analyse complex situations and derive workable actions (practical mindset) Able to constructively challenge requirements and current state to increase overall value to the firm Able to understand and integrate cultural differences and work effectively with virtual cross-cultural, cross-border teams Self-motivator, autonomous, with strong organizational skills, allowing effective prioritisation Proficient in use of MS Project, MS Office tools, PowerBI, Confluence, Tableau, Alteryx E x perience 7-10 years demonstrable experience in managing enterprise data assets and/or data transformation projects and programmes in large, complex organisations preferably in capital markets Experience of working with a multi-cultural, multi-disciplined, globally dispersed team Formal data management and project management certification advantageous Right to Work The UK Government have taken steps to reduce net migration to the UK by limiting the number of overseas workers from outside the EEA coming to the UK for employment.
