Job Details:

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our High-Performance Computing (HPC) Team based in Crawley, UK. Reporting to the Global Database Team Leader, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting, administering, and managing databases that underpin critical enterprise business applications.

MongoDB and PostgreSQL Expertise Required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage, maintain, and ensure the optimal performance, security, and availability of all databases globally.
• Make critical decisions under pressure to maintain database availability and integrity.
• Analyze database performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and optimize queries.
• Collaborate closely with developers to improve database efficiency and reliability.
• Provide 24x7 support, including on-call duties as required

Key Requirements:

• Experience in installing, configuring, and managing MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets in large-scale environments.
• Proficiency in monitoring and performance tuning of MongoDB using Ops Manager, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Strong expertise in backup and restore strategies for both MongoDB and PostgreSQL, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) and High Availability (HA) strategies.
• Ability to troubleshoot database performance issues and implement strategies for data growth management and responsiveness under high traffic conditions.
• Hands-on experience as a Database Administrator, covering design, deployment, and support of critical production environments globally.
• Experience with real-time relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and proficiency in PSQL and GUI tools like PGAdmin and DBeaver.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, client-server applications, and relational database design (data modeling, schema normalization).
• Scripting proficiency for database management using Bash, Golang, or Python.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices and related tools, including GitLab, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, and Unix.
• Basic knowledge of ANSI SQL.
• Experience in quality control, test suites, and quality assurance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and observational skills, with a passion for continuous learning.

Qualifications:

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
