Datacentre Engineer | Financial Services - Electronic Trade House - 12 Month Contract - Inside IR35 - London - On-site
Datacentre Engineer with hands-on expertise whilst also leading a team is urgently needed for a 12-month contract on-site with a leading Financial Services customer within the Electronic trading world. You will be a Senior Engineer but also have leadership responsibilities and be able to guid the business through various Migration and Relocation Projects. You will liaise with 3rd Party Vendors whilst leading the Project initiatives.
Successful candidates will come from a Financial Services background and MUST show experience leading enterprise level businesses through large scale and complex Datacentre projects.
This role will require on-site presence.
Role:
- As a Data Centre Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data centre infrastructure. This includes:
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, networking hardware, and storage systems.
- Managing incidents and providing swift, effective solutions.
- Monitoring power, cooling, and space to keep systems running optimally.
- Collaborating with teams across Networks, Unix, and Storage for smooth operations.
- Handling vendor relationships and ensuring compliance with best practices.
- Maintaining meticulous documentation using tools like Visio, Confluence, and Jira.
Experience:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in data centre operations.
- Strong cabling skills (structured fibre and copper).
- Expertise in hardware from Dell, HP, Cisco, and Arista.
- Ability to work independently, especially out of hours.
- Experience with Excel, Visio, Confluence, and Jira
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
