Delivery Driver

Location: Chester-le-Street, County Durham

Are you a skilled driver with a passion for customer service? Our client, a leading organisation in the distribution industry, is seeking a dedicated Delivery Driver to join their dynamic Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small friendly team that ensures efficient and safe delivery of products to customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule daily deliveries and work closely with the operations team
  • Utilise GPS navigation and local knowledge to deliver goods to customers on time
  • Complete delivery notes and ensure their timely processing
  • Maintain the yard's efficiency and adhere to quality procedures
  • Keep the yard tidy, following quality and health and safety standards
  • Drive in a safe and responsible manner, promoting road safety at all times
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the vehicle
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks and report any issues to management
  • Provide excellent customer service, interacting with customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Support other team members with inquiries and problem-solving
  • Assist with unloading supplier deliveries and storing goods properly
  • Load and unload trucks using a forklift truck
  • Help other teams during yard downtime
  • Contribute to the stocktaking process
  • Assist with month-end paperwork preparation
  • Coordinate with yard operators regarding packing schedules
  • Collaborate with site squads for unloading and site erection
  • Be available for overtime when required

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Full driving licence
  • Experience in a similar environment
  • Experience in safe manual handling and working at heights
  • Ability to work well in a team and deliver excellent customer service
  • Strong organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Forklift truck licence
  • Understanding of stock control

Behaviours & Aptitude:

  • Able to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Friendly and polite with a can-do attitude
  • Insurance compliant clean driving licence
  • Flexibility to support other parts of the business as required
