My client, a Commercial vehicle repairer and main dealer with different sites, is looking for an ambitious and dedicated Depot Manager / Service Manager / Dealer Principal / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager to join their site in Dunstable.





A Depot Manager / Service Manager / Dealer Principal / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager with previous experience of running a main dealer commercial vehicle depot is desirable, someone who has managed a large, busy site.





The Depot Manager / Service Manager / Dealer Principal / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager will have a strong desire to take a depot to the next level. The Candidate does need to have qualifications in Commercial vehicle repairs but it would be an advantage.





Tasks for the Depot Manager / Service Manager / Dealer Principal / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager:






  • �Defining market targets for workshops within the framework of performance targets and, together with the company management, drawing up a corresponding annual plan

  • �Controlling cost management for own department

  • �Compiling and maintaining a resource plan for the workshop and developing concepts and measures for load optimization.

  • �Ensuring planning for facilities, bays, machines, tools, diagnosis installations, etc. is carried out correctly; optimal design of workplaces and processes

  • �Preparing planning and calculations for investments in workshops, facilities and HR together with the company management

  • �Determining HR resource requirements, employing new staff and developing an induction plan

  • �Managing, coaching and motivating employees to ensure a high quality of staff

  • �Together with employees, establishing business objectives and personal development goals and monitoring performance against agreed targets

  • �Monitoring the regional market with respect to new competitors and carrying out analyses of the competition/benchmarking in Services

  • �Using the external analysis undertaken, carry out internal analysis to ensure business is competitive within the market place

  • �Performance analysis to identify areas of weakness and appropriate, targeted marketing activity

  • �Ensuring correct completion of Vehicle Health Checks, upsell conversions and follow up of unsold, deferred work process

  • �Ensuring all technical test equipment and tools are available and ready for use

  • �Guaranteeing cleanliness and orderliness of workshops and ensuring quality control of all completed tasks





This is a hands on and busy Depot Manager / Service Manager / Dealer Principal / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager role and will require someone who is able to ensure the depot is running smoothly and efficiently.





Requirements for the Depot Manager / Service Manager / Dealer Principal / Workshop Manager / Operations Manager:






  • NVQ or Equivalent qualifications in Heavy Vehicle maintenance and repair is an advantage

  • HGV Experience Necessary

  • Proven ability of managing either a depot or a busy service department

  • Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good Working knowledge of MS Office

  • Good Working knowledge of Kerridge
