This post is ideal for someone who is seriously considering a career as a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) as it provides a breadth of experience in both professional and corporate areas. The Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) will agree on a balanced portfolio that offers exceptional experience in medical leadership across our diverse Community Trust and the wider system. They will chair Trust-wide groups and will be a visible, respected, and key senior clinical leader. Main duties of the job Professional Leadership: Work closely with the Chief Medical Officer to provide leadership and development to the medical and dental workforce, ensuring delivery of patient-centred, safe, and high-quality care. Governance and Safety: Ensure appropriate governance and leadership of the Trust's Research and Innovation programme, and ensure clinical services are safe, placing quality of care at the heart of the Trust's work. Operational Advice: Work with the Chief Operating Officer to provide professional advice on operational issues. System-wide Collaboration: Liaise with partner organisations, including the Integrated Care Board and other Trusts, to develop system-wide solutions to improve health and healthcare for the population of Sussex. Assist the CMO in forming the Trusts clinical strategy. Take on Trust-wide leadership responsibilities as agreed with the CMO.
